What RailTools is
RailTools is an independent, fan-built reference and toolkit for Monster Train 2 — the card database, tier list, keyword glossary, unlock tables, enemy stats and deck tools, all in one place. It is built and maintained by a solo developer, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Shiny Shoe or Big Fan Games in any way.
Where the numbers come from
Card text, Ember costs, attack and health values, keyword tooltips, relic effects, unlock levels, boss stats and Covenant modifiers are parsed from the Monster Train 2 game data files. The current Soul dump omits or misreferences five serialized defaults; those five values are filled from the developer's official launch announcement and checked again when patches land. This documented exception prevents unresolved placeholders from being presented as game values. The dataset currently reflects patch 2.2.1 and covers 564 collectible cards, 220 relics, 68 status effects, 33 Souls, and 34 bosses plus 104 enemies.
When the game patches, the extraction pipeline is re-run against the new files and the whole site is rebuilt, so every page updates together. The patch version the data was extracted from is shown in the footer of the data pages.
What is opinion, and how it's labelled
Rankings are not extractable from game files. The tier list, artifact tier list and clan pairings synthesize public community consensus — Reddit polls and high-Covenant reports, Steam discussions, and published guides — and each page describes its method and source set. Artifact effects and other exact values still come from the game dataset; the recommendation around them is editorial. Opinion is always labelled as consensus or an editorial judgement, never presented as game data.
Corrections
Spotted a number that doesn't match the game? It's most likely a patch difference — check the data version first — but if something is genuinely wrong, mail privacy@railtools.net with the card or page name and it will be fixed in the next rebuild.
