Monster Train 2/Keywords

Propagate in Monster Train 2

Increase existing eligible Buff stacks on friendly units and Debuff stacks on enemy units by the stated amount. Dazed is excluded.

6 cards use Propagate.

The card list covers direct mentions in base card rules. Champion upgrade paths are shown separately below. Game data · patch 2.2.1

What does Propagate do?

Propagate adds the printed amount to eligible effects already on a target. On a friendly unit it grows Buffs; on an enemy it grows Debuffs. It does not double the current total or add every possible status. With Propagate 2, an existing Valor 3 becomes Valor 5.

Why did Propagate do nothing?

Check the target before playing the card. It needs a matching stackable effect already present: for example, Valor or Regen on an ally, or Decay on an enemy. Dazed is explicitly excluded. Armor, Quick and Multistrike are persistent effects in the game data, rather than eligible Buffs, so they are not a substitute for setting up a Buff first.

Propagate, Spawn and Funguy Troop stacks

Troop is a Buff, so Propagate can grow an existing Funguy stack. Spawn is the separate action that summons Funguy at the front of the floor. If you want to grow Troop, establish the Funguy first; then compare its existing Buffs before spending a Propagate card.

Choose the target and timing

Read each source separately. Contagious targets enemy units; Proliferate mentions all units. Grow Room applies its effect after combat, while Shroomponics applies it at the start of the turn. Use the exact rules below to tell an immediate spell apart from a repeated effect; their timing changes which statuses are present when propagation happens.

Propagate questions

Does Propagate increase Dazed?

No. The Propagate reference explicitly excludes Dazed, even though Dazed is a Debuff.

Does Propagate create new Buffs?

It increases eligible stacks already on a unit. Apply the Buff or Debuff first, then use Propagate to increase it.

Does Propagate work on allied clans?

The effect checks eligible statuses and the card’s target, rather than requiring an Underlegion unit. The developer’s explanation specifically uses Valor as an example.
